Photographer of the Year 2022
The announcement of winners and presentation of prizes for Mallow Camera Club’s Photographer of the Year Competition took place at a very enjoyable Dinner & Awards evening in Springfort Hall on Monday 14th November 2022.
The competition, which is one of the Club’s premier competitions of the season, attracted a substantial entry with competitors submitting a panel of three printed monochrome images and three printed colour images. The images were judged individually, rather than as a panel.
MCC members were judged over four grades, with Grade 1 being the beginners/ less-experienced photographers and Grade 4 the most experienced or advanced. Prizes were awarded for each grade across each category of entry.
The judges for the competition were Seamus Costello FIPF ASIFGP, Julie Corcoran AIPF, AFIAP and Joe Doyle ARPS AIPF EFIAP/b. Seamus, Julie and Joe did a fantastic job of judging the entries, not only scoring each image, but also providing valuable constructive feedback on the images and panels. It was hugely appreciated by all the entrants to have such quality feedback from these highly qualified and respected photographers. Huge thanks to Seamus, Julie and Joe for their contribution.
There is a huge amount of administration in a contest like this. A special thanks to Lisa Egan, our Competition Secretary and Asst. Competition Secretaries Barry Murphy and Niamh Barrett, for all the administration, preparation and organisation of the competition and judging.
Thanks to Club Members for printing both the colour and mono images. Thanks also to those for mounting the images on the display boards. A thank you to the renowned classical guitarist, Noel Walsh, for providing wonderful entertainment. A raffle was held on the night with €450 being raised. This will be donated to the Air Ambulance. Thank you to all those who donated prizes and to all those who bought tickets supporting such a worthy cause.
Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to everyone else who entered. The standard was very high with so many exceptional images submitted.
