Club Competition Entry Guidelines

The club will operate the league and other competitions during the Year in 4 grades.

The League is a monthly competition from Sept to November and January to April.

The league is a digital competition judged by 2 external judges online.

The Competition Secretary will set closing dates for entry to the competition.

1st 2nd & 3rd will be awarded per grade per month

Points awarded for the annual league:

1st place 4 points
2nd place 3 points
3rd place 2 points
1 point will be awarded to everyone who enters.

The theme for the monthly competitions is open. Submissions may by of any genre or subject.
Images may be mono or colour, and must include at least one mono image
3 Digital images

Image save format:

3000 pixels on the long end
300 DPI
Save as Quality 10 in Photoshop or 85% in Lightroom

Image titles are required, and they should be relevant to the image (i.e. not image01.jpg or similar)

Ineligible Images:

Previous league entries
Previous Photographer of the Year entries
Previous Image of the Year entries
Colour/Mono conversions of the above

The theme is open
Images must be 1 colour and 1 mono
2 printed images, accompanied by a digital copy of each

Printed images should be mounted in a standard club 20"x16" mount. Print to the following dimensions:

12x8: 12.2" x 8.2"
12x10: 12.2" x 10.2"
10x8: 10.2" x 8.2"
Square: 10.2" x 10.2"
Letterbox: 14.2" x 7.2"

Digital Image save format

3000 pixels on the long end
300 DPI
Save as Quality 10 in Photoshop or 85% in Lightroom

Image titles are required, and they should be relevant to the image (i.e. not image01.jpg or similar)

6 printed images, accompanied by a digital copy of each

CS grade for any of the camera skills group who would like to take part in the league themes pre Christmas. No league points are awarded in this group.

Grade 1

This entry grade is for members who come from the camera skills group after Christmas, or for beginner photographers who join in September or during the year.

Members may compete in this grade for 2 camera club seasons, then they will automatically go to Grade 2.
The winner of the POTY Grade1 in May will progress to grade 2 in September.
Members winning a medal at SACC level will go to Grade 2.
Members winning IPF medal will go to Grade 3.
If a member has to move grades mid season due to wining medals or gaining a distinction they will take their grade league points with them to the next grade.
New members registering for the camera club should state on the registration form their experience in photography. If they have been members of another photography club what level they were at in their previous club. It may be necessary to see examples of their work to grade them fairly in the club.

Grade 2

This grade is for members who have:

Come from grade 1 after 2 seasons
Have won no more than 2 medals at SACC level.
Do not hold IPF distinctions or 1 IPF medal.
No more than 5 acceptances at International Salons.
The winner of grade 2 POTY in May will automatically got to Grade 3.
A member winning an IPF medal will go to grade 3
A member gaining an LIPF or more than 5 acceptances in International salons will go to grade 3

If a member has to move grades during the season in the league competition they will take their points with them.

Grade 3

This grade is for members who have:

An LIPF distinction.
Won a medal at IPF level
Come from grade 2 by winning POTY grade to in May.
Do not hold an AIPF or AFIAP
Have not more than 10 acceptances at International Salons.
The Winner of Grade 3 POTY in May will automatically go to Grade 4 in September.
If a member of this grade has to move up a grade during the season they will take their league points with them.

Grade 4

This grade is for members who have:

AIPF, AFIAP or higher distinctions
Have won 2 or more IPF medals.
Have more than 10 acceptances at International Salons
Have won POTY Grade 3.

The committee reserves the right to declare a photographer an advanced photographer if they are in business as a professional or semi professional photographer or hold a college diploma or degree in photography. If a members photography is deemed to be of a high standard the committee reserves the right to regrade them during the season.

Any information that might identify the owner of digital submissions must be removed from the metadata

All imagery must be the total and exclusive work of the entrant and most not include any element that was originated by, or is the copyright of, any other photographer

All images must originate as photographs, captured by the entrant either on photographic film, or through a digital camera
