Photographer of the Year 2020

30 November 2020

Photographer of the Year 2020

This is Mallow Camera Club’s most prestigious competition of our annual season, and this years competition has not disappointed, with some fantastic talent on show. Normally this would be a print competition with 4 mono and 4 Colour prints entered, however, this year we had to yield to COVID and make it a digital only competition. This resulted in the biggest entry MCC have ever had for POTY, with 28 entries. Fantastic result, but a lot more work for the judges, with 224 images to judge.

We were seriously privileged to have had three top class judges to judge our POTY this year our judges were:

Ann Francis FIPF EFIAP/g from Cork Camera Group

Diane Seddon ARPS CPAGB BPE* from the UK

Gabriel O’ Shaughnessy MFIAP FIPF EFIAP/g from Drogheda Camera Club

Ann, Diane and Gabriel put in a huge effort in judging and providing scores and comments on all the images and panels, especially when you consider we had 28 panels comprised of 224 images to review. Their feedback was very much appreciated by each member of MCC.

A huge amount of work has gone on in the background with the Zoom presentation, Thanks to everyone involved, a huge Thanks to our Comp. Secretary Neil O’ Mullane and Assist. Comp. Secretary Lisa Egan who have put in absolutely trojan work in managing and administering the competition.

Congrats to all the winners and to everybody who went to the trouble of creating compiling and submitting such excellent work.
