Image of the Year 2023/24 Results
Judging of entries and announcement of the winners for Mallow Camera Club’s Image of the Year 2024 Competition concluded our season.
One of Mallow Camera Club’s premier competitions, it consists of a Colour section and a Mono section, with each entrant submitting one colour and one mono printed image.
The John Doheny Perpetual Trophy is awarded to the Image of the Year, which is the best overall image, as adjudicated by the judges.
MCC members are graded over four grades, with Grade 1 being the beginners/ less-experienced photographers and Grade 4 the most experienced or advanced. Prizes were awarded for each grade across each category of entry. The standard of entries was very high, with a lot of fabulous entries submitted.
We were privileged to have two top-class judges for our competition
Seamus Mulcahy AIPF
John Bermingham AIPF
The competition attracted a very high standard, as usual, with some very close scoring. Seamus and John put in an excellent effort, especially in providing feedback on every image with positive observations and constructive suggestions for improvement where appropriate. Many thanks to Seamus and John for their excellent contribution and we look forward to having you back with us in the future.
The Image of the Year, winner of the John Doheny Perpetual Trophy, was awarded to John Hooton, for his fabulous colour image, “Quiet Moments”. This image was also awarded Colour Image of the Year and first place in Grade 4 Colour.

Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to everyone who entered.
