A Tribute to Morgan O’Neill
What can you say about someone that was a friend to so many, through his passion for both his family and his photography.
He joined Mallow Camera Club many years ago, his love of what he excelled at made him very popular, and his willingness to share that knowledge helped all of us.
While he lived in Mallow he was at club every Monday night enjoying the “craic”, and most often the instigator! His ability to tell us how he captured each image always had us enjoying the journey, often in tears of laughter.
He was our chairman during his time with us, but was a lot happier being one of the lads where he could get up to a bit of devilment! When he moved to Cork it made sense that he would join Cork Camera Club, their gain, our loss. He often called back to us and each time had us laughing and enthralled with his skill to make images that were just “class”.
Family was so important to him, all those images of Kailin as a young girl and not as many of Morgan jnr. Life took a turn health wise for him, but it didn’t stop that creativity, it amazed us that knew him how he could manage to come up with so many fantastic images from a hospital bed. On visiting him he would have that twinkle in his eye if you told him of yours or someone he knew success photographically.
He never complained of his own issues, but just wanted the best for all around him. He was an inspiration to everyone that knew him, Morgan thanks for being part of our lives for too short a time. Siobhan, Kailin and Morgan Jnr you have our greatest sympathy today as you have lost a loving husband and a great father. Morgan you will be sorely missed. May you Rest In Peace.
Neily Curtin
Chairperson Mallow Camera Club, on behalf of all our Members.
